Jacinto Ponciano ABERNATHY-Funeral mass for Jacinto Ponciano, 73, of Abernathy will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy with Father Jacob Puthuparambil officiating. Interment will be in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Jacinto passed away on Oct. 27, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 24, 1943 in Kyle, Texas, to his late parents; Felipe and Eloisa (Garcia) Ponciano. Mr. Ponciano married Amelia Medrano on July 2, 1977, in Lubbock. Jacinto started farming at the young age of 12. He was very dedicated to his job. His work ethics were instilled into everyone he loved. He provided for his family by any means. Jacinto set the example of what a loving parent should be. He enjoyed barbecues and watching the Dallas Cowboys play football. Mr. Ponciano enjoyed listening to oldies, tejano, and country music. He liked watching western movies while relaxing. His humorous attitude lightened up any serious moment. Big Foot will always be missed. Mr. Ponciano is survived by his wife, Amelia Medrano Ponciano; his children, Diana Ponciano, Elijio Ponciano, Casey Ponciano, Erica Ponciano, Jacinto Ponciano, Jr, Dominique Moses Ponciano, and Anthony Cross Ponciano; and his siblings, Felipe Ponciano, Theresa Olson, Conception Ponciano, Isabell Morell, Lugarda Smith, and Gabriel Fox. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Eloisa Maria Ponciano; and one son, Ricky Jacinto Ponciano
