Emmott, Sr. San Jacinto High School Basketball Star. UT Austin Intramural Basketball Star and Horseshoe Champion. Member of the Greatest Generation. Legendary Texas salt-water fisherman. His best catch was Lucile Swartwout, the love of his life. Married on January 1, 1942. Celebrated more than 68 years of marriage at the time of her death in 2010.After serving as an
Army Air Corps meteorologist for four years in Italy during
WWII, he returned home and purchased from his father Loose Leaf Supply (which became KEA Printing) and continued in the printing business until retirement. He was a major contributor to the printing industry in Texas and nationally. President and Board Member of Printing Industries of the Gulf Coast. National Board Member of Printing Industries of America. Trustee of Texas State Technical Institute, Waco. Founding Board Member, Houston Printing Museum. Jack and Lucile settled in the family compound in Fairbanks known as Emmottville, a 100-acre wood along White Oak Bayou. An avid hunter of quail and dove, fancier of bird dogs, scratch golfer, member of Inwood Country Club, gin rummy aficionado, host and chief cook at the Annual Emmott Family BBQ Reunion in Fairbanks for over fifty years.Jack & Lucile were among the founding families of St. Francis Episcopal Church. To honor Jack's 26 years as Board Trustee and Lucile's service to the Special Education Department, Cypress Fairbanks ISD named The Jack H. and Lucile Emmott Elementary after them. He was also named one of the 75th Anniversary Honorees by Cy-Fair ISD.Jack is survived by children, Carolyn Sutherland (Rick), Jack Emmott III (Dorothy), Charles Emmott, Gary Emmott, and D. Russell Emmott (Stacey), and grandchildren, Keith Young (Stephanie), Sandra Young, John Emmott IV (Lisa), Catherine Emmott, Jordon Emmott, Alanah Coleman (Blake), Mckenzie Emmott, Karley Emmott, Justin Sutherland (Tiffany), Amanda Olson (Scott), and great grandchildren, Kandice, Carolyn, Tristan, Joey, Jason, Austin, Ellora, Gracelee, Ryan, Emmalee, Brody, Ellisa and John V expected next month.His brothers and sisters are Robert Emmott (Virginia); Hewett Emmott (Betty); Donald Emmott (Marie); Julie Holmsley (Tom); Mary Ellen Flint (George); Nette Morris; Mabel Behrens (Howard); Carolyn McLemore (Bill); Leslie Swartwout (Anne); Margaret Hiebeler (Otis); Carolyn Tynan (Robert). Jack was also blessed with three generations of nieces & nephews and a world of friends.A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road, Houston 77024. A reception in the Wheatcroft Parish Hall will immediately follow the service.
