AUBURN — Jack L. Hoard, 77, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1937, in Hillsdale, Michigan, to the late Russell J. Hoard and Audrey L. (Alpaugh) Yoder. He married Jill A. Sponhower on August 4, 1962, in Auburn, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Jill A. Hoard of Auburn, Indiana; two sons, Jon (Brenda) Hoard of Auburn and Joel (Lana) Hoard of Auburn; four grandchildren; four brothers, Robert (Peggy) Passmore of Hillsdale, Michigan, Dennis Passmore of Oak Hill, Florida, Charles (Cindy) Hoard of Jonesville, Michigan, and Robert Hoard of Hillsdale, Michigan. Jack retired in 1993 from Diversified Pattern as a metal pattern maker. He had previously been employed with Magnavox Company from 1961-1964 and with Cole Pattern Company from 1964-1970 and Foley Pattern Company from 1970-1980. He graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Michigan, in 1956 and then went on and attended Allied Trade School in Chicago, Illinois. He was an Army Reserve veteran and a member of Hopewell United Brethren Church in Auburn, Indiana. He also served on the Jackson Township Fire Department for about 10 years. Jack loved to play cards, spend time with his family and tinker around. Calling will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, from noon to 2 p.m. at Hopewell United Brethren Church, 6852 C.R. 35 Auburn, Indiana. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Pastor John Erwin officiating. Burial in Cedar Chapel Cemetery. Memorials are to the DeKalb County Gideons.
