Jack Oberlin JrMANSFIELD: Jack Carlton Oberlin, Jr, age 60, died of complications from cancer on March 10, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family.Along with his parents, Jack is survived by Shelley, his wife of 33 years; his son Jack III (Kalee Basquin) of Streetsboro, his daughter Erica (Cody Newton) of Lexington; his brother, Jim (Libby) Oberlin, Sisters Julie (David) Murphy, and Jayne Baker; brother-in-law Bill Burke; uncle Bake; and his nephews and nieces, Jeremy, David Jr, Christopher, Jennifer and William, James Jr, and Hannah. He is preceded in death by his sister Judy Oberlin Burke.Jack was born on April 26, 1956 in Crestline, Ohio to parents Jack and Pauline Jean Oberlin. He graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1974. He retired from Mansfield Distributing after "29 ½ years of unforgettable service!"Jack was a great family man and a loving father. He loved fishing and going to movies with his son, working on cars with his daughter, gambling with his parents, sister and brother, taking impromptu trips with his brother, Friday night marshmallow roasts with Braxton and Bryson, fishing at Lake Erie, naps on the couch with Lily, and just always loved being with his entire family. It's an Oberlin Thing! Jack had many friends from his work, bowling league, and golfing. There are so many great friends and some very special neighbors that will all miss him.Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield.
