YOUNGSVILLE - Jack Ward Page Jr., 76, died of natural causes Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at Transitions LifeCare Center, Raleigh NC. He was born July 5th, 1942 in Pinehurst, NC the son of Jack Ward Page Sr and Francis Foster Page.
Jack graduated from Fayetteville Senior High School, the class of 1960. Following High School, Jack attended Duke University and NC Wesleyan College. He graduated from NC Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in May of 1965. Following graduation, Jack accepted a position as teacher and assistant principal of Horace Sisk Junior High School in Fayetteville, where he taught civics and coached basketball and track.
It was during this time that Jack met and would marry his wife of 46 years, Karen Odom. The couple was married March 5th in 1972, at First Baptist Church in Red Springs, NC. Following marriage, Jack and Karen both enjoyed careers in education, Jack at Horace Sisk Junior High School in Fayetteville NC and Karen as Kindergarten teacher at Margaret Willis Elementary School Fayetteville NC. Karen would continue at Margaret Willis Elementary for 19 years. Jack left the field of education to begin a position as trustee of the Florence Rogers Charitable Trust in 1973, where he managed the distribution of funding to charitable organizations and served as site manager and project director for Eutaw Apartments in Fayetteville. In 1987 Jack was accepted to Duke University's School of Divinity where he would spend most of his time completing his Masters in Divinity while serving his first parish Coats United Methodist Church, Coats NC. Jack received his Masters in Divinity from Duke in May of 1991 and would go on to serve the Eastern Conference of the United Methodist Church in North Carolina for 22 years retiring in 2009. Jack and Karen settled in Youngsville, NC following Jack's retirement.
Jack is predeceased by his mother and father, Francis Foster Page and Jack Ward Page Sr. Surviving, in addition to his wife Karen Page include: Son Russell Page and his wife Rebekah of Waxhaw NC; Son Benjamin Page and his wife Kathryn "Ryne" of Raleigh NC; Daughter Jordan (Page) Wicker and her husband Jordon Wicker of Elon, NC; Seven grandchildren: Jack William Page, Haynes Davis Page, Grayson Leigh Page, Cameron Rose Page, Mary Ross Page, Foster Ward Page, Hanna Grey Wicker; One brother, Robert Page and his wife, Sally of Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive visitation from 10:00 to 10:45, and a service of remembrance will be held at 11:00, the 10th of November at Wake Forest United Methodist Church. A family lunch will follow the ceremony at Wake Forest UMC.
