Jackie Davenport Torngren was born on July 24, 1924, in San Pedro, CA. She passed away on January 26, 2017, at the age of 92. Jackie was the valedictorian of her HS class, and attended UC Berkeley, where she met and married Theodore S. Torngren. Ted and Jackie were married for 63 years. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, career woman, and life-long friend to many. Jackie was an avid bridge player, silk-screened Christmas cards, won awards for her weaving, and was one of the first women in California to be a Certified Medical Assistant. In her 90s, Jackie continued to express her passions around writing, genealogy, antiques, arts, reading (2-3 novels a week!), politics, business, and entertaining. She enjoyed helping others, hosting gatherings for friends and family, and sending handwritten messages that brought hope, happiness, and comfort to others. Jackie is predeceased by her beloved husband,Ted, and survived by her children, Bill Torngren (Becky Buckman), Sue Torngren, Kate Casey (David Casey), JoAnne Torngren (Larry LeFrancis); grandchildren, Alison Torngren, Brett Torngren (Melissa Torngren), Morgan Torngren-Tatman, Meghan Casey (Ivan Pacheco), Dashiell LeFrancis, Chandler LeFrancis; and great grandchild, Frances Pacheco. Jackie's thoughtfulness, sharp mind, and exuberance for life will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jackie's life on Saturday, February 18, from 1 to 4, at her home.
