Jackie was the youngest of five siblings. His father left soon after his birth, but his mother Mallie Robins stuck around to raise the kids on her own. He attended John Muir High School then continued schooling at Pasadena Junior College. He withdrew his thriday year at UCLA to help his mother with the family. His grandparents grew up as slaves in Georgia. He was the father of three beautiful children, and was married to Rachel Robinson. Jackie Robinson made history in 1947 by being the first African American to play in the major leagues. His life was full of meaning, and he worked for it. When #42 stepped out onto the field no one expected big things from him, but he proved every single person who doubted him wrong. He was a all-round athlete in college, but stuck out the most in baseball. I can't stress enough how many important things he accomplished. Through all the death threats, hate mail, and things being thrown at him at games, he remained humble and kind. He played in the World Series a total of 6 times, and won only once. He had a career batting average of .311, hit 137 homeruns, and had a total of 197 stolen bases. He also was named to All-Star team six times. He, what some people would say, opened a gateway for AfricanAmerican dreams. He is still celebrated to this day.
