Jacklin Marie RoeserFebruary 5, 1955 - April 14, 2015Jacklin Marie Roeser, 60, of Marsing, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at home with her family after a brief battle with cancer.Jackie was born on February 5, 1955, in Gooding, ID the daughter of Elmer and Ruth Ellen Parke. Jackie and her younger brother Walter grew up on the family farm in Gooding, attending Gooding Public Schools where Jackie was a cheerleader, riding horses and competing in local events.Jackie's love for horses was evident at an early age. As a kid, she showed horses in 4-H and at the AQHA shows in the Magic Valley, while also participating in the high school rodeos. After high school, she attended the University of Idaho and Eastern Oregon University where she graduated with a degree in education. While in college, Jackie was a member of the U of I gymnastics team, but decided to devote her energy to rodeo. She was the President of the EOU rodeo team and qualified for the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals in 1976 in the goat tying. Her time spent rodeoing in college, and the friends she made doing it would always be some of her most cherished memories.After college, Jackie moved to Filer where she began her teaching career. During that time, she started dating a friend and team-roping partner of Walter's, Dan Roeser. Dan and Jackie were married on June 5th, 1979.Settling in Caldwell, they spent the early years of their marriage training horses and rodeoing together all over the Northwest. While competing in barrel racing and goat tying, Jackie won numerous year-end individual and all-around titles in the Idaho Cowboys Association and the Eastern Idaho Rodeo Association. During the day, Jackie continued a career that would span 20 years, teaching Reading, Speech, and English from grades four through college. Her husband Dan spent days starting young horses for the racetrack, and in the evenings they would work on their roping and barrel horses.Their daughter Annie was born on July 5th, 1984. Shortly after, Dan would transition to training reined cow horses and Jackie would begin to focus primarily on barrel horses. Then in 1987, they bought the little place in Marsing that would become their home. Over the next 28 years, with every fence built, pasture or tree planted, and weed pulled, Jackie would build one of her greatest masterpieces. Roeser Ranch, the beautiful house and barns there today are a result of Jackie's flare for color and meticulous eye for detail.In all, Jackie trained twenty-two barrel racing futurity and derby champions; several that went on to win at the amateur and pro rodeo levels. She qualified for both the Wilderness and Columbia River Circuit Finals during her career and helped countless individuals with their own horses. She took great pride in the horses she trained and all of the riders that would go on to win on them. Some of Jackie's favorite and most accomplished horses include Hula Rap, Azure Bid, Fantastic Rocket, Sovereign Judgment, Circles Top Illusion, Miss Might Flight, Jimmy Some Sugar, and CT Tres (a daughter of Circles Top Illusion). Over the years as Jackie and Dan built their business, with customers from Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, they would also continue to expand their circle of friends. Stemming largely from Jackie's warm and infectious sense of family, each person that visited or worked at Roeser Ranch would be quickly adopted. Holidays, weekdays, or any day a party could be found with the type of mixed group that would always make up the Roeser Crew. Jackie often said, "Our life style of training and showing horses has not always been easy, but it has been rewarding. We have built our business ourselves, we have been our own boss, and we have been rewarded by the true friends we have made along the way." Jackie is survived by her husband Dan, daughter Annie (Elissa), Walter's children Justin, Jared, and Jett, as well as numerous Parke and Roeser family brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer, her mother Ruth Ellen, and her brother Walter. Services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 6:30 pm at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa.
