Jacob Borger1927 - 2016Jacob Borger, 88, of Somers, Wis., passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family just ten days after losing his wife of 68 years. He was born on Dec. 22, 1927, in Kenosha, son of the late Henry and Katherine (Schmidt) Borger. Educated in the schools of Kenosha, Jacob graduated from Bradford High School and also attended Gateway Technical College. He was joined in marriage to Ardith Otto on Dec. 27, 1947, at Friedens Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Jacob was employed by American Motors – Chrysler in the Quality Control Transmissions Department and taught engine overhaul at Kenosha Vocational School. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He and his late wife Ardith were active members at Bethany Lutheran Church in Somers. He operated a charter fishing boat for many years on Lake Michigan with Ardith as his first mate on Le Tub II. He was also Commodore of the Kenosha Yacht Club. Jacob and Ardith were skilled rag rug crafters. They had four looms at home to create rugs of all shapes and sizes. For years they enjoyed taking their beautiful rugs to local craft fairs.Jacob is survived by his three children, Darrell (Andrea Elverman) Borger of Somers, Robert (Gale) Borger of Twin Lakes, John Borger of Longmont, Colo., six grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Katherine Borger, two brothers Henry and David, a sister Mary and daughter-in-law Susan L. Borger. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church Somers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. followed by burial at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Seasons Hospice or the family would be appreciated.
