Jacob Graham "Jack" Wilz, 84Jacob Graham "Jack" Wilz, 84, of Normal, died at 12:06 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at his home.His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington with Rev. Ric Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal with military rites accorded by Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with the rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.Memorials may be made to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen.Jack was born on July 6, 1930 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Andrew and Lucille Padgett Wilz. He married Shirley Goodman on September 1, 1953 in Washington, Indiana. She survives.He is also survived by two daughters, Lynn Leary of Bloomington and Lea Ann Wilz of Normal; one son, David (Teresa) Wilz of Bakersfield, CA; his granddaughter, Amie (Mike) Thompson of Orlando, FL; great grandson, Alex Thompson; a sister-in-law, Diana Goodman of Fowler, IN and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Buford and four sisters, Norma, Rita, Margaret and Bobbie; and a son-in-law, Glenn Leary.Jack was a graduate of St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana, where he played on a basketball scholarship and held the single game scoring record for 10 years. US Navy Veteran of the
Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post in Bloomington. Jack retired from State Farm Insurance Companies as Assistant Vice President of Claims.Jack was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington and attended daily mass his entire life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Bloomington, was a 4th Degree Knight and was a past Faithful Navigator. Jack was a member of the Normal
Rotary Club, served as a past President of the club, received the Paul Harris Fellow Award and served as Governor for Rotary District 6490.
