Jacoba BoersmaJacoba Boersma, age 81, of Pipestone, MN, died Thursday morning at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone. Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 10:30 AM at the Pipestone Christian Reformed Church. Visitation will be Monday, May 29, 2017, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the church. Burial will be in the Holland Cemetery, Holland, MN. The Hartquist Funeral Home, Pipestone Chapel is in charge of arrangements.Jacoba (Overgaauw) Boersma was born on October 16, 1935, to Marinus and Adriana (Buitendyk) Overgaauw on a farm near Woodstock, Minnesota. She was raised and attended country school and then moved with her family NW of Holland and continued country school through the 8th grade. On August 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ervin J. Boersma at the Christian Reformed Church in Holland. The first two years after their marriage they lived and worked in Colton, South Dakota. In 1958, they moved to the farm two miles east of Ihlen, Minnesota. Ervin preceded her in death on February 1, 1981. In June of 1982, she moved to her current home in Pipestone. Through the years Jacoba raised her children and was a great mother to them. She worked on the family farm, the Town and Country Locker, Howard Beef Processors, and in the café at the Pipestone Livestock Auction Market. She also cleaned many people's homes. On April 11, 2017, she entered into the Pipestone County Hospice House and passed away peacefully there on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the age of 81 years, seven months, and nine days.Jacoba was a member of the Pipestone Christian Reformed Church. She read the Bible to the family at the supper table each evening. She had a servant's heart, whether it was family, friends, or by donating to charities or organizations. She loved embroidering, board and card games, word finds, and doing puzzles during snow storms. She loved watching her grandkids and going to their events. Jacoba is lovingly remembered by her children, Harlan (Sherry) Boersma of Worthington, MN, Gene (Linda) Boersma of Pipestone, Gordy (fiancé, Sherry) Boersma of Greeley, Colorado, Marcine Olsen of Ihlen, and Karen (Dave) Leisinger of Chancellor, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Case (Joan) Overgaauw of Lakewood, California, and Peter (Margie) Overgaauw of Kent, Washington; sisters-in-law, Johanna Overgaauw, Carol Overgaauw, and Rena Boersma; and one brother-in-law, Gilbert Kuyper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; her parents, Marinus and Adriana; one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Olsen; brothers, Jake, John, Frank, Willis, and Adrian; sisters, Pearl Smith, Jacoba Overgaauw, Wilhelmina Kuyper, Cornelia Overgaauw, and Cornelia Zeinstra.
