Jim & Kay MinickUnited in Eternity 2016Sharon "Kay" Minick, 72 was born on October 21, 1944 to Harold and Janice Titus. She entered into the Lord's gentle arms October 30, 2016 in Cape Coral Hospital 3 days after husband James "Jim" Edward Minick. Jim, 74 was born on May 19, 1942 to Thurston and Iva Minick. He passed on Oct 27, 2016 in Lee Memorial Hospital Fort Myers after he succumbed to injuries from a misfortunate fall. Kay was originally diagnosed with lung cancer in April of 2015 and successfully completed treatment, though the cancer returned late 2016. She fought to live life with her "Rock" and "Soul Mate" Jim. Jim supported and cared for Kay over the months. They spent their days together caring and nurturing for each other while living life, traveling and sharing moments with family near and far. After Jim's fall, Kay stated "I'm done and it's time to join Dad."They were members of the Bayshore Community Chapel. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved anything he could fix, repair or modify. Kay was a passionate seamstress, quilter and homemaker extraordinaire. Jim served in the US Navy from 1960-1964 on board the USS Saratoga and retired as a Lieutenant after 23 years with the Lee County Sheriff's Department. Kay retired after a full career at LCEC as an electrical engineer. Both were much loved by their coworkers.Jim and Kay are survived by their daughters Dawn Voorhees and Holly Beecher, son in laws Randy Voorhees and Bryan Beecher, and grandchildren Chad Creamer, Colby Minick, Hailey Beecher and Chelsea Beecher, Jim's mother Iva Minick, Jim's siblings: Ronnie (Candy) Minick, Cheryl (Dan) Harshbarger, and several nieces and nephews. Kay's siblings: Carol Warfield and Earl (Terri) Titus. Jim and Kay are preceded in death by their late son Jay Matthew Minick.The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 4-7 pm with memorial services beginning at 7 pm at the Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Dr. Mark Means will be officiating.The family will also receive friends for visitation on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 1-3 pm with memorial services beginning at 3 pm at the Maus Funeral Home on 206 N. Water St., Hillsboro, IN. Graveside services with color guard and military honors will directly follow the memorial services at Newtown Cemetery where they will be laid to rest along with their late son Jay Matthew Minick.
