James Schumaker, 62, of Keaau, Hawaii, passed from this life on September 09, 2020. James was born at home on Friday, January 31,1958 in Belton, Missouri. He moved with his family to Richardson, TX in August 1966. James graduated from UT-Dallas with a degree in mathematics. His first teaching postion was in Victoria Texas. Within a few years he moved to Hawaii to become Mathematics Professor at Hilo Community College. It was in Hawaii that he met the love of his life Le Lam. Always the adventurer, from racing dirt bikes in motocross races as a teen, achieving a pilot's license for small aircraft, to volunteering in the Civil Air Patrol and Coast Guard Auxilary in his later years.
James was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Mary Schumaker of Richardson, Tx and brother Danny Gentles of Galveson, TX. He is survived by his loving wife Le Lam Schumaker of Keaau, HI, sons, Luke Watins of Hilo, HI, Aaron Watkins of Honolulu, HI, Paul Watkins of Honolulu, HI, Jayden Schumaker of Alhambra Ca, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Sharon Schumaker of Waco, TX, sister Cynthia Ann Tanner of Bethel Island, CA, sister-in-laws Thuong Lam Wagner of Beaverton, OR, and Thu Lam of Vietnam and brother-in-law Trung Lam of Vietnam, four grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to be held at a time and place to be determined. A small headstone will be placed in the family cemetary in Mill Springs, MO.
