ClarksvilleBaker, James "Shake" "Bake" Baker,James "Shake" "Bake" Baker, 66 of, Clarksville, IN, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital. A private family service was held. A celebration of his life for his friends will be held in the near future. Cremation was chosen and Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville has been entrusted with his care. James was born on March 1, 1950 in Oneida, KY, to Theo Baker and the late Mary Ann Sparks. After graduating from Jeffersonville High School, in 1968, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. James was a self-employed bookkeeper, sports enthusiast, substitute teacher for Clarksville High School, and a devoted coach to the Clarksville High School girls basketball and softball programs for many years.He actively played basketball, tennis, golf and softball on a regular basis. He enjoyed playing cards and was often found on Tuesday's at the Gusatorium. He loved his family tremendously and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandma, Lucy "Granny" Baker.James is survived by his loving wife Phyllis (Burns); two sons, Ty Baker and his wife Brittany; Dusty Baker and his wife Krysten; his father, Theo Baker (Mary); a brother, Corbett Baker and his wife Anita; a sister, Pam Johns and her husband Mike; and his two grandchildren, Chandler and Eli Baker.The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of James's friends for the love and support they've shown to their family at such a difficult time.
