James "Bobby" Sears, 63, went to heaven on November 29, 2016, after a sudden cardiac arrest. He was surrounded by his loving family. Son of Alfred and Gennie-Vee Sears, James was born on February 21, 1953 in Gaston County. James was a simple man: he loved his wife, his family, and being outdoors. He retired from Duke Power/Pike in Charlotte in 2010 after 39 years. After his retirement, you would find him on a hunting stand or his lawn mower, remodeling his home, or lending a hand to anyone in need. He was kind but strong, quiet but present, and humble but blessed. James is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; his children: Sandy Sears, Michelle Sears (Trent), Michelle Helms (Patric), and Mandy Robinson (Brian); his grandchildren: Kelbi, Karis, and Kohen Peterson; Brooke Moore, Alexis Taylor, and Chloe and Caitlyn Robinson; his siblings. Judy Paige (Graham), Janie Hastings (Dean), and Norman Sears; as well as many loving nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, and his brother, Walter. A celebration of his life will be on Friday, December 2, 2016, at Sunset Road Baptist Church, 2317 Sunset Road, in Charlotte at 7:30 pm, with Reverend Steven Bass officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 - 7:15. Memorials may be made to: Mt. Holly Community Development Foundation, P.O. Box 93, Mt. Holly, NC 28120 or Sunset Road Baptist Church. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly is serving the family.
