MINSTER — James S. Brown, age 79, of Minster, Ohio, died on Nov. 14, 2016, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 24, 1937, in Minster, Ohio, to the late Philbert and Ruth (Stoll) Brown. He married Mary Nagel on July 27, 1957, at St. Augustine Church, Minster. She survives in Minster.
He is also survived by children, Mark and Catherine Brown, Boulder, Colorado, Cindy and Eric Schall, St. Marys, Theresa and Jim Schwieterman, Maria Stein, and Paul Brown Minster; 12 grandchildren, Megan and Natalie Brown, Adam Schall, Lauren and James Horn, Luke Schwieterman, Kayla and Trevor Gundlach, Margaret and Claire Schwieterman, Brandon Schwilk, Ryan, Abby and Austin Brown; brothers, Charles Brown, Dayton, and George and Mary Brown, Minster.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, the Men's Choir for 50 years, a High School Religion Teacher, a member of Crescent Players and a former Jaycee member. Jim enjoyed being a handyman and a woodworker and helping out with the Minster Historical Society. Jim was also an organ and tissue donor. He had worked at Wayne Trail Technologies.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Ohio, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding and the Rev. Ned Brown con-celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21.
