JAMES CAREY "JIM" THOMPSON James Carey "Jim" Thompson, 68, Richmond, Mo., died Wed., November 16, 2016, at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo. Jim was born on July 22, 1948, in Peoria, Ill., to Victor and Lila (Knapp) Thompson. He married Kathleen D. Bamman of Richmond on Aug. 9, 2003. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Jeremy A. Thompson of Kansas City, and Carey Jacob "Jake" Thompson of Redbud, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie L. and Daniel Rowan of Richmond; brother and sister-in- law, Jeff and Toni Thompson of Urbana, Ill.; one sister, Vicki Thompson-Wilson and husband Bruce of Kennilworth, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Noah, Jack and Mars Rowan. Jim was a United States Army Veteran serving in Central Intelligence during the Vietnam War in 1971 and 1972. He was a Prosecuting Attorney for Ray County for several years, later becoming the Judge in Richmond. He was very active in community service. Jim was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church. He had lived in Richmond since 1979. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Richmond United Methodist Church, with visitation to follow. Military services will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.
