COCHRANJames W. Cochran, 90, passed away May 19, 2017 at the Drake Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jim was born on August 10, 1926 in Lockport, NY, a son of Lloyd and Dorothy Cochran. He married Patricia Wright Cochran in 1950. They celebrated their 65th anniversary on September 23, 2015.Jim graduated from Colgate University in 1947, Phi Beta Kappa: served in the US Navy for two years: received his MBA degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, Beta Gamma Sigma honorary. He was a member of the fraternity DKE. He worked in the advertising department for Procter and Gamble for 42 years. He began his career as the brand manager for Cheer and culminated as Manager of TV Commercial Production.During his P&G career, Jim served for several years as Chairman of an Industry committee (agencies and advertiser) responsible for the negotiation of labor agreements with talent unions representing TV commercial actors and musicians.Jim was a member of the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher for 10 years and a Trustee for 4 years. Following his P&G retirement, he was an avid volunteer at the Valley Interfaith Food and Clothing Center in Lockland, Ohio.Jim is survived by his children: Peggy Judd of Barrington Hills, IL and her husband Rick and their children, Wesley and Emily: Cathy Shiver of Morristown, NJ and her children, Brian, Douglas and Christopher: Doug Cochran of Cold Springs, KY and his wife Amanda and their children Ava and Zane. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Cochran, his brother Robert Cochran, his sister Dorothy Cochran Gleason, sister-in-law Dr. Emily E. Wright and a son Bruce Wright Cochran. He was "Oomba" to his grandchildren who adored him. Jim Cochran was a man of grace, kindness, faithfulness, principles and a true gentleman. He loved hiking the mountains and canoeing in NC. His passion was writing letters to family and friends, "old school" handwritten, with an envelope and a stamp.Friends may call Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 225 Wyoming Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45215 from 10:00 -10:45 AM: service immediately following at 11 AM: with reception to follow. Burial will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery.
