With heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Cummings, who was born on August 31, 1959, in Houlka, Mississippi, United States. He peacefully left this world on August 5, 2024.

James was the beloved son of Michael and Sandra Cummings. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through his three children: Taylor Cummings (Shawn), Cheri Cummings (Evan), and James Cummings Jr. (Keke). He was also a cherished grandfather to 5 grandchildren. Dasia Cooperwood, Jakiyah Clay, Marvin Cummings , Dashun Cooperwood , AND Lanquan Cooperwood.

James attended West Clay Elementary and graduated from high school in 1978. Throughout his life, he dedicated his time to helping others in need through his work with the Community Counseling organization. He was known for his compassion and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own.

Outside of his work, James had a passion for watching football. He loved cheering on his favorite teams and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warm smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for those around him.

James Cummings will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
