James D. Hoffman 1950 - 2016James D. Hoffman, 66, of Springfield passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.He was born on December 9, 1950 in Rantoul the son of Arthur and Marie Hoffman. Both have preceded him in death. Jim graduated from Rantoul High School, Parkland Junior College,
University of Illinois and U of I Springfield. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971 in Germany. He was employed by the Department of Natural Resources for 28 years as an operations officer.Jim married his loving wife, Mary Disseler on May 18, 1991. She was his inspiration when she was on stage in various plays. Mary enriched his life for over 25 years. His favorite activates included Springfield Jaycees, named senator 39282, Toastmasters, and U of I sports. Hiking, site seeing, and world travel were also on his agenda. Jim enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors. Hawaii was his favorite place to visit.He is survived by his wife. Mary Disseler; siblings, Eugene Hoffman (Patty) of San Antonio, TX, Frank Hoffman (Angela) of Bloomington, IL, Patricia Jones (Steven) of Eureka, IL, Richard Hoffman of Ludlow, IL, and Debra Renn (Scot) of Annandale, VA; an aunt, Alice Carriger of Bakersfield, CA; several nieces and nephews, and his six great nieces and nephews. He loved his family deeply. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home with a wake service at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N 6th Street, Springfield, IL from 9:00 to 9:45 followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Reverend Steven Janoski will be officiating.
