James "Jimmy" D. Smith, 70, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. He was born on January 15, 1946, to Henry Kyle and Nina Renfro Smith in Tiplersville, Mississippi. Mr. Smith was a
veteran of the United States
Army, serving during the
Vietnam War and was a recipient of the
Purple Heart. Before retiring, he was owner of Smith's Sharpening and Sales. Mr. Smith loved his tractors, farming, gardening and flowers. He also enjoyed watching the beauty of the outdoors and going for walks with his dog Soxi, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Tiplersville Church of Christ. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tom Childers officiating. Burial will follow in Tiplersville Cemetery with full Military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2016, from 7:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.at McBride Funeral Home. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Glenda Johnson Smith of Tiplersville; one daughter, Lori Lynn Smith of Tiplersville; one son Derek Kyle Smith (Shalon) of Ripley; two sisters, Marjorie Gurley of Arlington, Tennessee; Christene Shackleford of Tiplersville; two brothers, Billy Smith (Eva Lou) of Dallas, Texas; Bobby Smith (Ginger) of Falkner; four grandchildren, Keegan, Korbin, Karsyn, and Karigan Smith. Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Aleene Smith. Pallbearers will be Jock Smith, Keegan Smith, Steve Gurley, Johnny Hodum, David Horton, Larry Smith.
