James D. TaylorGermantown, TNJames D. (J.D.) Taylor passed away peacefully in Germantown, TN on March 15, 2017, at the age of 96.J.D. was born on September 30, 1920 in Kaufman County, TX. He graduated from Quinlan High School and attended East Texas State University at Commerce. He taught grade school for two years before entering the U.S. Army in 1942. In 1943 he married his wife of 66 years, Aline Endsley, whom he met at ETSU. After fighting in World War II, he moved to Atlanta, TX, where he became a partner in Endsley Wholesale Grocer Co.. Mr. Taylor served on the Atlanta City Council, The Chamber of Commerce, a longtime director of Atlanta Savings and Loan and long time member and past president of the Rotary club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Atlanta, TX and a 50+ year member of Atlanta Masonic Lodge #463. Being an avid golfer, who consistently shot his age or below, J.D. was often found most days laughing and joking on the golf course. His kind nature and playful smile often lifted the spirits of everyone around him. He was a man of strength and generosity at home as well as in the community. Mr. Taylor is preceded in death by his loving wife Aline Endsley Taylor. He is survived by his son, Mike Taylor and wife Janelle (Germantown, TN), granddaughter Jennifer Taylor Palo and spouse Danny Palo (Germantown, TN), granddaughter Laura Taylor Muldoon and spouse Ryan Muldoon (Tampa, FL), grandson David Michael Taylor (Cordova, TN) and seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Cameron, Madison, AJ, Luke, Gavin and Collin.Visitation is scheduled at Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta, TX on Thursday, March 23, 2017, 5:00-6:30 pm. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:00 am at Hanner Funeral Home in Atlanta, TX.
