James Dickerson, 88, of Reeds Springs, Missouri, passed on May 27, 2023. James was born on March 02, 1935 in Dodge City, Kansas. His parents Fred and Pearl Dickerson preceded him in death. Jim had three brothers Fred, John and Robert who preceded him in death. He has a sister Florence who survives. He was married twice with his recent wife, Verla Jean preceding him in death. Jim was the father of two six children. Two of his children Bradley Mullins and Kevin Mullins preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter Joan Dickerson of Santa Fe, New Mexico and a son Robert Dickerson of Rogers, Arkansas, Ellen Drebes of Fowler, Illinois and Mitch Mullins of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim had lived in Kansas City Missouri, Joplin Missouri, Quincy Illinois, and recently moved to Reed Springs to live in a house being built by his grandson Travis.
He attended the University of Kansas where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering. He put his education to used working for Holiday Boats, Eagle Picher, Prince Manufacturing, and providing consulting advice of several individual projects after retirement. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and mostly just piddling around his shop constantly having remodeling projects going on.
Jim's wishes were cremation with little fanfare. He preferred friends and family to gather and raise a glass at cocktail hour to him. This event will take place June 9th in Reeds Springs with a private scattering of his ashes to take place. In place of flowers Jim would have appreciated a donation to a local humane society in his memory.
