Dobeck, JamesJames T. Dobeck, 85, of Stevens Point, died on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Plover.He was born on Nov. 15, 1931, in Stevens Point, to the late John Sr. and Gertrude (Boyer) Dobeck, and was a graduate of P.J. Jacobs High School.James entered the U.S.
Army on Dec. 10, 1952, in Milwaukee. He served with Company A 131 Tank Batallion and had earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. His honorable discharge, at the rank of Corporal, took place on Dec. 9, 1954, at Ft. Knox, Kentucky.On Nov. 27, 1952, his marriage to Ann Olszewski took place at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Ann died on Jan. 20, 2006.James worked at the Stevens Point Division of Consolidated Papers for 31 years, retiring as a receiving supervisor. His interests included fishing, hunting and he loved to relax in his chair. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 6 in Stevens Point.Survivors include his daughters, Barbara (Kurt) Bublitz and Ann (Ken) Slusarski both of Stevens Point; sons, George (Jean) Dobeck of Green Bay, Steven (Joan) Dobeck of Plover, Thom (Shawn) Dobeck of Colorado, Ken (Linda) Dobeck and Daniel (Marie) Dobeck both of Stevens Point; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Lorbeck of Stevens Point; and son-in-law, John Luedtke of Milwaukee.In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine; son, Rey; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; brother, John Dobeck; and sister, Regina Dobeck.The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in the town of Hull. The Rev. Arul Joseph V. will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
