YORK James E. Horne, 60, passed away after a period of declining health on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Harrisburg Hospital. A visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 2580 Mt. Rose Ave., York 17402 on Monday, Sept. 8 from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the Church at 7 p.m. Jay was born on March 20, 1954, in New Brunswick, N.J. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E., Sr. and Elizabeth R. Horne. He is survived by three brothers, Clinton Horne and wife, Toni, Robert E. Horne, Jr. and wife, Kathy, and Marvin Horne; and four sisters, Elizabeth Nemec and husband, Harry, Katie Horne, Shirley Uhrich and husband, Harold, and Susan Roberts and husband, Jim; as well as nine nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Jay graduated from Vo-Tech High School in 1972 and worked as a security guard and manager of a service station. Jay was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time in the mountains along the trout streams and rivers of PA, as well as visiting the eastern shore for some salt water fishing. He loved to hunt, fish and camp and vowed each year how this would be the year he'd bag the big three - a monster Buck, a record Bear and a long-bearded Turkey along with the hopes of landing that trophy Trout and monster Bass. Jay also loved the companionship of dogs and cats. So, if you wish, in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to the SPCA.
