James "Jimmy" Marshall, 77, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on September 09, 2023. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by beyond words.
Born in Baltimore, MD to James G Marshall of Caroline County, VA and Mary Julia Marshall Roanoke, VA. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA. James graduated from Jefferson High School in 1964. After he graduated, Jimmy enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years. He then went on to work for Norfolk Southern for 33 years until he retired. Jimmy enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sports. Jimmy had a passion for coaching girls softball and sandlot football. Jimmy was appointed District Director of SW Virginia Dixie Softball Association. Jimmy loved country dancing and was president of the Leather n' Lace Dance Club Chapter of Roanoke VA. He spent most of his retirement enjoying his cabin at Smith Mountain Lake in Hardy, VA then moved to Port Charlotte, FL. During his time in Port Charlotte, FL, he spent most days riding his Harley with some great friends making joyful memories.
Jimmy leaves behind by 2 daughters Chantel "Nickie" Akers (Rodney) and Tasha Marcinkiewicz (John) and 5 grandchildren Kayla, Kelsey, Eric, Amber and Hunter. One grandchild that departed this world way too soon (Brandon). Jimmy was fortunate enough to enjoy 10 great grandbabies as well.
A celebration of life will be held September 15, in Port Charlotte, FL with family and friends.
