I work at the VA as a physical therapist. I would see James daily at the end of the workday for the last few years and we would always say goodbye and/or have a nice weekend. Sometimes we would stop and chat for a little bit. He would always ask me what I was doing professionally as I received my doctorate in physical therapy while at the VA. He was very supportive and then asked me "what's next?" I would usually shrug but it was nice to have someone continually pushing me to do better. I could tell he was genuinely interested in my future and encouraged me to keep striving for bigger and better things. He always greeted me with his warm smile, which will be greatly missed. Although I am more of a work acquaintance, his presence will have a lasting impact on me. I am happy I was able to share laughs and smiles which such a special and amazing person!
