TRENTON - James Floyd "Wooky" Griffin, 74, of Trenton, N.C., passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at his home. He was born on August 2, 1939 in Jones County to the late Obed and Gladys Griffin. "Wooky," better known to his family and friends, was a loving and caring person that always brought a smile to everyone one that he met. James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend that loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping others, but one of his most favorite things to do was spending time with his grandson Matthew. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Joyce Ann Griffin of the home; daughter, Joyce Marie Griffin Williams and husband David of Richlands; and grandson, Matthew Ryan Williams; six sisters, Mary Mercer, Mavis Harrell, Hazel Reaves and husband Robert, Rita Barrow and husband David, Sandra Martinez and husband Anastatia, Kay Griffin, Mandy Snyder and husband Mike; three brothers, Edward Griffin and wife Dallas, Eugene Griffin and Obed Griffin Jr. and many other family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 11 2013, at the House of Prayer Holiness Church in Trenton, N.C., with the Rev. Bobby Simpson and Steven Mercer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and other times at the home. Burial will follow in the Griffin Family Cemetery in Comfort, N.C., and dinner will follow at the Church.
