James Frederick Shoemaker of Lake Charles, Louisiana, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at home at the age of 77 years. He was born and grew up in Barnwell, South Carolina, to Cecil and Adele Shoemaker. He graduated from Thomas Roberts High School as co-salutatorian in the Class of 1961. He matriculated at the University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor\'s degree majoring in accounting and eduation. Shortly after graduation from college he began working as a salesman for Fairbanks Morse Pump Corporation. He retired from Fairbanks in 2010 after more than 40 years of service. He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Lin Morris, on July 14th, 1967, and began moving throughout the Midwest before settling in Youngsville, Louisiana, in 1977. James will be remembered for his constant loving devotion and dedication to his family. ]
He is survived by his wife, Annette Shoemaker, his daughter Claudia Cordero (William) of Hammond, Louisiana, his two sons, Martin Shoemaker (Billie) of Arlington, Virginia, and Joshua Shoemaker (Lindsay) of Shrevport, Louisiana; his grandchildren Abigail (Owen), Sarah, John, Lucy, and Thomas; great-granddaughter Nora Smith; his sister Tara Bell; and brothers Nicholas Shoemaker and Christopher-Thomas Shoemaker. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Katherine Shoemaker and Judy Berry; and brothers Scott and Hunter Shoemaker.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of donations to Trinity Baptist Church for Missions or No Longer Bound.
