James Fredrick Brown, age 75, of Whittemore, a former resident of Oscoda and Alaska, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at the Iosco Medical Care Facility in Tawas Township. He was born on March 2, 1938 the son of James and Jeanette (Partridge) in Oscoda, where he was also raised. Jim graduated from Oscoda High School in 1956 and was a self employed mason and taxidermist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and square dancing with his wife. Jim's true passion was gold mining in Alaska where he lived for 17 years, and he was known by many as being a jokester. Jim married his best friend, Sandra, on Dec. 19, 1971 in Oscoda, and together they raised four beautiful children who survive him, Debbie Rogers, Laura Peek, Kimberly (Johnny) Hatfield and Terry Brown. He is also survived by his brother, Jack (Sue) Brown; and grandchildren, Molly, Mandy, Laura, Benjamin and Quinn; and great grandchildren, Emma, Lexy, Collin and Riley. James was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Pat King, Sally Belch and Jean Matthews. Cremation arrangements were made by Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
