Loving Father

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

James Henry Hines, a loving and caring father was born on November 6, 1940, in Onalaska, Texas, to Mr. Henry Lee Hines and Mrs. Dorothy Blakes Hines, and passed away July 19, 2023, in Kingwood, Texas.

James was a man of many talents and pursued careers as a plumber and mechanic. With his meticulous attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship, he earned a reputation as someone who could fix anything that came his way. James took great pride in his work and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

A proud veteran of the US Army, James served his country with honor and dedication. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and commitment that permeated every aspect of his life. It was this same sense of duty that he carried over into his role as a father.

As a father, James was unwavering in his love for his children. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and he always made sure that their needs were met. He provided them with not just the material comforts but also the emotional support they needed to thrive.

Beyond his professional and parental duties, James had a few hobbies that brought joy to his life. He had an undying passion for cars and could spend hours discussing the intricate details of different models. When he wasn't under the hood or fixing pipes, he enjoyed watching TV shows that piqued his interest.

In celebrating James' life, we remember those who preceded him in death. His daughters Tangela Gilford, and Angela Givens held a special place in his heart - their memories forever cherished. He was also preceded by his parents Henry Lee Hines and Mrs. Dorothy Blakes Hines.

James leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried forward by those who survive him. Among them are his cherished son Marvin Hines of Lufkin, Texas, and his beloved daughters Felicia Jefferson (Ellis) of Livingston, Texas, Joyce Hines, Norma Andrade, and Sharonda Hines Garvin - all of Houston, Texas. His memory will be kept alive by his grandchildren: Sergeant Major James Dawson Sr. (Brandy), Shavwonda De’Ann Nicole Henderson (Terrell), Percy Givonnie Hines, Ajai Holden; Jayla Hines, Christopher Wimbush, Darrell Nickson, Marvel Nickson, Wykethia Nickson, Justin Harris, Ariel Andrade, Aaron Simmons, Rashaad Simmons, Kevin Irving, Skye Irving, Kayden Irving, Emory Givens, Donnell Givens, Pyria Booker, and Termell Booker. Additionally, he is survived by a host of great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy.

In addition to the family, James leaves behind two special friends who brought light to his life: Robert Johnson (Bobcat) and Anthony Johnson (Nip). Their unwavering presence provided comfort and companionship to James throughout the years.

James Henry Hines will be remembered as a devoted father and friend who touched the lives of many. As we bid him farewell in the physical realm but keep his spirit alive in our hearts forevermore. May he find eternal peace as he is reunited with those who have gone before him.
