Jim, 67, a well-known resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn and Edwin Kenneson, his aunts, Minnie and Marge and mother-in-law, Bernarda "Lala" Garcia.He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, children, Jessica (Juan) Salinas, Francesca Garcia and Justin (Patricia) Garcia; grandchildren, Rianne, LoReinna (Rico), Diego, Kayla, Marisa, Justin Jr., Samuel, Brian, Olivia and great-granddaughter, Kaylynn; brothers, John (Kim) Kenneson, Paul (Pam) Kenneson, Phillip (Kim) Kenneson, and sister, Carol (Dat) Tran; and his loving nephews and nieces.Jim was born on Nov. 9, 1945, in Shelbyville, Ind. He graduated from Wabash College in 1968 with a B.A., received his master's degree in divinity from Yale Divinity School in 1971 and worked as an independent fisherman in Alaska. He taught English as a second language in Egypt and China before moving to Las Vegas, where he taught creative writing at the United World College and graduated from New Mexico Highlands University/Luna Community College as an RN in 1988. Since retiring from the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute in 2006, Jim has enjoyed reading, writing, traveling and spending time with his newly retired wife. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Rosary and Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7 at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas with cremation to follow services.
