James L Ramsey Sr. died at home on Dec. 2, 2016, following a brief illness. Jim was born on Nov. 26, 1924, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Garnet Watlington and Leonard Ramsey. At age 3, he moved with his father and two brothers to Keno, where he lived until his second marriage in 1957 to Florence E. Stilwell, at which time they moved to the home where they continued to live. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting everything and fly fishing on the Klamath River. He was also something of a Renaissance man with an innate intelligence that allowed him to do anything he set his mind to do. He and Florence completely remodeled their home, where they raised the seven children of their combined family. Jim is survived by Florence, his wife of 59 years; children Starlett Pedro, Steven Mellon (Bev), James Ramsey Jr, Michael Ramsey (Diane), Les Ramsey (Karen), Tallah Keffer, and Laurel Ramsey (Steve Grow); nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Katie Vanderhoff; brother Gordon Ramsey; brother-in-law James Stilwell (Katherine); sister-in-law Betty Stilwell; nieces; nephews; and longtime friends in addition to many local people who have continued to miss his unparalleled eyeglass fitting skills. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors, at 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, (541-883-3458), is in charge of the arrangements.
