James Lemuel CollinsOrmond Beach, FL - James Lemuel Collins of Ormond Beach, FL passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC.A native of Gastonia, NC, he was born on November 27, 1933 in Lanes Creek, NC. He was the son of the late Noah Lemuel Collins and Ola Bennett Collins. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Elizabeth Prevatt of Sanford, FL, and TJ Luhnow of Houston, TX.Mr. Collins was a field auditor with the IRS and was a proud Veteran of the US Army where he served in the Korean War, during which time he suffered hearing loss. He was a member of Mt. Herman Lodge #118 A.F. & A.M. of Asheville, NC for 50 years and volunteered with the Friends of the Bandshell at Daytona Beach since 1996. He was of the Baptist faith, loved music and the game of tennis, and was a loving husband, father, and friend.Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Ruth Greene Collins; daughter, Cheri Collins Weaver (Michael) of Mars Hill, NC; son, Stephen K. Collins of Asheville, NC; sister, Margie Brown of Gastonia, NC; and several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
