James Matthews of Starkville, Mississippi, passed away on September 29, 2025, at the age of 57.

Born on May 8, 1968, James was the son of Sean Matthews and Sherline Sterling. He was lovingly married to Mildred Matthews since the year 20, and together they raised two wonderful children, Latrice Matthews and Vinzuela Matthews.

James was known for his sense of humor and infectious laughter. He had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to his beloved plants in the backyard. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing with his friends and spending quality time with his family.

James leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and 2 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the local gardening club in James's honor.
