BUTLER — James Lynn McKean, 74, died Thursday, June 30, 2016, surrounded by his family at home. Jim was born on Jan. 22 1942, in Hamilton to the late George and Virginia (Whitby) McKean. He was a supervisor for Rieke Packaging Systems in Auburn, retiring in 2002 after 33 years of service. He also worked for SUDZ Laundry and Car Wash in Butler for the last 12 years. Jim was a former volunteer on the Butler Fire Department and a former member of the Butler Eagles. He coached Peewee and Little League baseball for many years. Some of his interests were raising and showing pigeons, repairing old clocks, working on old cars and gardening. He married Sue Ann (Wasson) McKean on Jan. 8, 1961 in Kendallville and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Tim Lynn McKean of Butler; and two sisters, Georgia DeArmond of Fort Wayne and Nancy Gerber of Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Lee McKean. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016, from 2-5 p.m. at the H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler.
