James Newell, age 93, died at 11:37 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

James was born July 2, 1924, to William and Bessie Newell. He married Edna on April 7, 1942. She preceded him in death along with his parents and two sons.

Surviving is his five children, Harold, Dewey, Leonard, Barb, and Alice as well as his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James lived a very full life and always made time for his family. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his free time hunting, fishing and boating. He was also a dedicated sports fan and on Sundays, you could find him watching the Bears game at H & L.

James’ wish was to be cremated. In lieu of funeral services, the family will be gathering for a private celebration of life.
