JAMES R. NASH Obituary

Aug 29, 1927 - Jan 23, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
James R. Nash, aged 89, quietly passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Jim was born on August 28, 1927, in Great Falls, MT. At age 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy and worked on a destroyer tender during World War II. Later, he attended college in Seattle, WA, where he majored in Transportation and met his future wife. They moved to her hometown, Fresno, CA, in 1953, to raise their family. From his first job at age 11, Jim established himself as a hard worker. He baked pies before school, stoked a steam engine for the Great Northern Railroad, and was president of Guarantee Savings & Loan until his retirement in 1984. In his personal life, Jim was jack-of-all-trades, a maker of fine furniture, and a passionate fisherman. He was playful and always ready to show off for a laugh. He will be dearly missed. A special thanks to the palliative care team at Kaiser Permanente; and to Hinds Hospice for their outstanding services. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia L. Nash; his daughters, Carla Hawks, and Sherry Nash; and his three grandchildren, Alexis Hawks, Rachel Nash, and Leland Hawks.
