James R. Palacio, 81, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009. He was born on March 7, 1928 to Frank and Inez Palacio. James joined the US
Army in 1945, he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Infantry #11. He was honorably discharged in 1947. James enjoyed playing baseball. He was an active member of The Knights of Columbus. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lupe Palacio of Yuma; Daughters, Barbara (Larry) Daiz of El Monte, California, Cecilia Palacio (Sonny Robles) of Banning, California, Margie Palacio and Mary Palacio and Ruthie Palacio all of Yuma; sons Jimmy Palacio and Marty Palacio and Gregory Palacio all of Yuma; 21 Grandchildren and 31 Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Frank Palacio of Phoenix, Arizona, Manual Palacio of Yuma, Alfred Palacio of Gilroy, California; sisters, Lydia Orta, Gloria Munoz, Eleanor Lopez, Socorro Perez. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. James was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Palacio; parents, Frank and Inez Palacio; sister, Beline Fernandez. A wake will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be: Mario Palacio, Salvador Miranda, Larry Jr. Diaz, Andy Palacio, Jose Leinenger, sonny Jr. Robles. Honorary pallbearers will be: Peter Moreno, Patricia Martin, Arlene Palacio, Crystal Palacio, Shamaine Arriola, Shadie Palacio. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either Immaculate Conception Church or The Knights of Columbus.
