James Richard DougallAugust 8, 2017James (Jim) Richard Dougall of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was 81 years old. Jim was born on February 27, 1936 in Minot, North Dakota, the proud son of Esther (Myers) and Robert W. Dougall. He attended University of Minnesota where he received degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business. He worked for Minneapolis Electric Steel Company for over twenty years, and later moved to Racine, Wisconsin as the President of Racine Steel Castings serving in that capacity for 8 years before joining Modine Manufacturing for 10 years as the Vice-President of the Heating Division. Following retirement, Jim was able to continue his love of the outdoors as an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and traveler. After relocating to Southwest Florida in 1997, he became an active member at Cypress Lake Country Club and Christ Lutheran Church. Jim is survived by his loving wife Virginia (Marx) Dougall; sons David J. Dougall (Melissa) and Kirk E. Dougall (Trisha); daughter Jill Bonk (Terry); sister Jean Fournier and his seven grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his extended family members and many friends who were proud to know him along his life's journey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Nancy (Gibbs) Dougall who passed away in 1979. A Memorial Service for Jim will be celebrated by Rev. William E. Bogholtz at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM. A reception for Jim will take place following the service where family and friends will gather at the Colonial Family Center located on the grounds of adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery. An additional service will held at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at the family's convenience.
