It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Holmes, born on October 13, 1953, in Augusta, Georgia. James, also known as Richard, was the beloved son of Tom Watson Holmes Jr. and Lucille Morris Holmes. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love as a devoted father to his five children: James Richard Thomas, April (Eric) Morris, Jamel Holmes Sr., Javier Holmes, and (Adopted Daughter) Fratina Thomas.

Richard, a master of many trades and a comedian in his own right, was a graduate of Richmond County School system high school. He was known for his gift of gab and his ability to always make those around him smile. If you ever got him wrong, he would certainly get you right together!

Throughout his life, Richard also had the joy of being a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren. While we won't list their names here, we know that he loved each and every one of them dearly.

Despite his passing on June 4, 2024, James Holmes will always be remembered for his kind heart and quick wit. He brought joy to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
