Roberts, James "Jim"James "Jim" Roberts, age 82, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2017 surrounded by his family.Jim was born on October 30, 1934 in Manitowoc, WI, son of the late Erwin and Frances (Witczak) Roberts. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1952 and later graduated from Oshkosh Technical School with a degree in Industrial Electronics. Jim served with the U.S. Army and worked on the missile program while enlisted. On November 19, 1960 he married the former Eleanore Bohman at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2017. Jim began work with IBM after graduating from Oshkosh Technical School. He was at IBM for 35 and a half years, where he worked as a Field Service Engineer. In 1968 he moved his family to the Peshtigo/Marinette area where he serviced computers in the Upper Peninsula and Northeastern part of Wisconsin. Jim also coached Little League baseball for several years as well as girls and boys basketball. He served on the St. Mary's Parish Council and as Trustee. Jim was President for several terms of Marinette Catholic Central (MCC) Athletic Club, also chairing the fund raising efforts to replace the bleachers at MCC. Jim was a member of the MCC Board of Education and served as President. He and Eleanore were the recipients of the highly distinguished Touhey Award for their volunteering at Maritnette Catholic Central High School. Jim also received several IBM service awards. After retiring from IBM, he moved back to Manitowoc, WI where he enjoyed farming and his love of animals. His priority was always family and his sense of humor was legendary.Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law: Tony (Cathy) Roberts, Manitowoc, WI, Jerry Roberts, Cato, WI; four daughters and sons-in-law: Mary (Larry) Dahl, Waukesha, WI, Betty (Ed) Pope, Newport Beach, CA, Ann (Kevin) Glosny, Suamico, WI, Christy (Pat) Baxter, Marinette, WI; 16 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one sister and brother-in-law: Betty (Marvin) Kutz, Newton, WI; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Paul and Judy Bohman, Anthony and Filvia Bohman, all of Mishicot; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Lucille Tess, Two Rivers, WI, Mary and Herman Mattfield, Manitowoc, WI, Florence and Don Jilek, Ewen, MI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc, where military rites will accorded by the American Legion-Drews Bleser Post 88.The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will conclude the visitation at 8:00 p.m., led by Deacon Rich Bahnaman. The visitation will continue on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting
