James Robinson 95, of Greensboro, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Cone Health Moses Cone Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on January 27, 1929, in Charleston to the late Mary and James Robinson.
James was a loving husband to Emma Robinson for 50 years, devoted father to five children—Terry, James, Samuel, Benjamin, and Steve —and proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Robinson, and many nieces and nephews.
James was a dedicated teacher for 35 years at Grimsley High school, where he taught history and coached the school’s debate team. After retiring in 2010, James devoted much of his time to community service, volunteering at the local food bank and working with St. Mary’s Church on various outreach programs. He was known for his deep faith, sense of humor, and his unwavering commitment to helping others.
A memorial service will be held at Mt Zion AME Church, 468 Howe Hall Rd, Goose Greek, SC 29445 on November 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 AM until the service.
James will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the students whose lives he touched.
