Van Huss, James Roger 86, passed away in Wichita, on Friday, August 5, 2016. Jim was born on July 9, 1930, to Fred and Beulah (Phillips) Van Huss in Beaumont, KS. At the age of 18, Jim joined the USMC, eventually serving his country in the Korean War where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Jim married Janice Jones on May 1, 1950, in Oklahoma. They were married 62 years until her passing in May 7, 2012. They brought six children into this world: Jayne, Roger, Karen Sue, Debra, Robert and Stacy Lee. He enjoyed gardening, golf, wood working and sports. Jim was known as "Papa" by his children and grandchildren and loved his family above all other earthly cares. Jim is survived by his children, Roger (Julie) Van Huss of Nevada, Karen (Ron) Goodman of Tennessee, Debra (Steve) McDowell of Wisconsin, Stacy (Bob) Cargile of Kansas; son-in-law, Sam Rice; daughter-in-law, Lupe Van Huss; brother, Robert Van Huss of Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janice; daughter, Jayne; son, Robert; granddaughters, Lesley Rice and Elizabeth McDowell. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday, August 8, at the Dunsford Funeral Home of Augusta. Graveside services will be at 12 p.m. Monday, August 8, at the Beaumont Cemetery in Beaumont, KS.
