James S. Scott of Las Vegas passed away at his home on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at age 64. He was born on Dec. 23, 1947 in Las Vegas to the late John Alexander Scott and Mary Louise Montoya. James joined the U.S. Army in May of 1965 having served in Vietnam where he was assigned various combat duties being honorably discharged in 1968. He was married to Lydia Torres for 16 years and together they had a beautiful son, Jeffrey J. Scott. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing music. He was very knowledgeable in various fields of mechanics, plumbing and electrical, having built his own home. James was always willing to help others.He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack A. Scott and Mary Louise Montoya (Scotty) Sims; grandparents, Abelino and Modesta Montoya and John A. and Mary Ann Scott; siblings, (infant) Robert Scott, (infant) Albert Martinez and Kenneth A. Scott, Sr. as well as numerous aunts, uncles and relatives.James is survived by his son, Jeffrey J. Scott (Chloe Stockman); sister, Jacqueline L. Anderson; his ex-wife J. Lydia Sanchez and numerous other relatives and friends.Funeral services for James will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as follows: rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday). Funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. George Salazar at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial services will follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.Serving as pallbearers will be: Emmanuel Stockman, Greg Martinez, Dave Whorton, Michael Anderson, Antonio Maestas, Alvin Montoya, Arturo Gomez and Carlos J. Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jose Albert Montoya, Richard V.
