FREMONT — James D. Skelly, age 63, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on February 18, 1950, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Harold and Laurine (Pairan) Skelly. They survive in Waterloo, Indiana. He married Carol A. Parker on May 21, 1977, in Ashley, Indiana, and she survives in Fremont, Indiana. He was a 1968 graduate of DeKalb High School. He was member of the Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren, Ashley, Indiana. He was a member of the Ashley Masonic Lodge # 614 F & AM, Ashley, Indiana. He loved his family and enjoyed his antique Ford tractor, and his dog Gidget. He was a heavy equipment operator, and had worked for Reith–Riley Construction of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Shambaugh & Sons in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Carol Skelly of Fremont, Indiana; a son, Jeremy Skelly of Aurora, Illinois; his parents, Harold and Laurine Skelly of Waterloo, Indiana; thee stepdaughters, Donna (George) Pinson of Fremont, Indiana, Julie (Rod) Ridenour of Fremont, Indiana, and Kris (Dave) Garrison of Fremont, Indiana; two stepsons, Alan Rakestraw of Fremont, Indiana, and Chip Rakestraw of Ashley, Indiana; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Janet (Dean) Ramsey of Westerville, Ohio, Amos (Marge) Skelly of Corunna, Indiana, Marvin (Julie) Skelly of Ashley, Indiana, Martha (Roger) Tubbsof Hudson, Indiana, Darwin Skelly of Waterloo, Indiana, and Linda Skelly of Hamilton, Indiana. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Thomas. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Pleasant Chapel Church of the Brethren, 1993 C.R. 8, Ashley, Indiana, with Pastor Valarie Kline officiating. There will be additional calling on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at Jordan Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana, at a later time.
