EDGERTON — James R. Speakman, age 71, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Parkview Nursing Center in Edgerton, where he was a patient. Mr. Speakman was a graduate of North Central High School and was employed as a carpenter for Lutterbein Lumber Company, retiring with over 40 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to hunt mushrooms. He was a member of the Butler Eagles and the Angola Hog Hunters bass fishing club. James R. Speakman was born on May 29, 1945, in Defaince, Ohio, the son of Harvey and Donelda (Mansfield) Speakman. He married Vicky J. Bigger on July 3, 1965, in Edgerton and she survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Connie (Dan) Thiel, of Edgerton, Ohio and Denise (Jack) Arnold, of Butler; one son, Allan Speakman, of Edgerton; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Pierce, of Bryan, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Walter Speakman, and a daughter, Kathleen M. Speakman, in 1968. Graveside services will be at held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton. There will be no visitation. Memorials are requested to Heartland Hospice or to a .
