James Gura, 70, of Westland, Michigan, passed peacefully on January 17, 2021 in his home. He was born to Stephen Gura and Anna Gura in Detroit, Michigan on April 14, 1950.
He married his beautiful wife Janis Gura in 1980, and recently celebrated 40 years. Together they raised 2 daughters Lori Conde (Javier Conde), and Tracy Wojciechowski (Vincent Wojciechowski). He is also survived by his loving sister, Diane McWhirter (Mike McWhiter) and his 3 grandchildren, Aila, Aaron, and Anna.
Jim's life was lived in love and service to the Lord. As a social worker at the State of Michigan for over 25 years, his heart was always sensitive to people's physical and spiritual needs, doing everything he could to help others and the community. In retirement, he served as a Chaplain in a hospital and prayed with the sick in their hour of need. His life's mission was to reach people with the good news of God's love.
Those that knew Jim, knew he was a minister. He served God and others faithfully and fiercely without expecting anything in return. His legacy are those that were touched by his compassion, kindness, and good works to the glory of God.
