James "Ted" Theodore Hill, Jr.age 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2017. Ted was born on December 2nd, 1932, to James T. Sr., and Margie Young Hill.Ted is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Nancy Ann (Beasley) Hill, sons, Jefferey W. (Judy), Hill of Austin, TX. And Michael L., (Nancy) Hill of Indianapolis. His grandsons are Bradley James, (Dee) Hill, Michael Andrew Hill, and Daniel Joseph Hill. He is also survived by a brother, David F. Hill of Cedar Crest, NM and a sister, Anne (Ed) Brown of Shelbyville, Michigan.He spent his early childhood being an honor student, caring for family, and developing his love of fishing, hunting, and being outside. He attended Technical High School in 1951, and the first family member to attend college, and become a pharmacist, Ted graduated from Butler University in 1955. While there, he was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity (Beta Upsilon Chapter) at that time. The Butler Pharmacy class was small, about 27 graduates.Ted met Nancy, a student at Howe High School, and enjoyed the fun and company of the Beasley family (Price, Viola and children) for several years before they married on October 15, 1955, at Prentice Presbyterian Church. That began a courtship of 61 years!Ted's pharmacy career began as an apprentice pharmacist at Mike Kuhns drug store at 34st Street and Forest Manor.  After graduation he was a pharmacist at Delbo Drugs on English Avenue. After several years, Ted became owner of Delbo drug store. Ted was close friends of many residents of the neighborhood. Ted and Nancy both were devoted to family, co-workers and customers. Delbo drug store was also known for its wonderful soda fountain, one of very few left in Indianapolis.  After closing Delbo's, Ted worked at Eastside Prescription Shop by Community East Hospital, serving the community.In 2000, Ted retired from Eastside Prescription Shop to enjoy more time with family and friends. He and Nancy loved to go camping, mushroom hunting, and travel around the United States visiting family and the great outdoors. Ted and his hunting and fishing buddies enjoyed many excursions throughout Indiana, and the Midwest. They also had many exciting adventures in the western and southern United States. His sons, grandsons, and nephew were a part of those happy times.In 2005, Ted and Nancy celebrated their golden anniversary with a trip to Alaska. They continued to share their years happily ever after.The family would like to thank Visiting Angels and Heartland Hospice for the their compassionate care and concerns. Funeral services will be conducted a 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ghherrmann.com
