James Thomas Petty, AKA "Tom Petty" 81, passed on September 28, 2022 at 5:35. He was born to JAMES THOMAS PETTY SR. and LOUISE MOORE on March 13, 1941.

James is a father of 6 children MICHELLE PETTY, JAMES THOMAS PETTY III, QUINTON PETTY, SHARYN BULLOCK, DANIEL PETTY, JAMAL PETTY.

Also a grandfather of over 15 grandchildren. and 3 greatgrands

James graduated from DUDLEY HIGH SCHOOL in 1958 and continued his education at NORTH CAROLINA A&T in 1958

James worked as a FRONT DESK ADMINISTATOR FOR NURSING until he drafted into the US Army in 1959. He was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. He also volunteered at the DISABLED VETERAN'S NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION later on in life post discharge.

In 1966, James was dicharged from the US Army with the HONORABLE Soilder Award. James would come home to the US with a book awards and a lot of memories from war.

PVT (e-3) Petty served his country for 6 years as a SPECIAL FORCES LIEUTENANT in the ARMY. James also was a trained sniperman and was claimed POW-MIA for close to 4 years. He was a highly respected soilder and made sure he gave his best when representing and fighting for his country.
